Agreed that your ex was the guilty party, however, it will do you immense good if you resist the temptation to badmouth your ex in the presence of common friends and family members. No matter what never forget that your ex was your best friend till a few months ago.

No affairs on the rebound
Even though you are lonely and feel left out avoid the temptation to fall for the first girl/boy who approaches you. You have to prove to your ex that the void he/she left behind is difficult to fill. This should not stop you from socializing but maintain a dignified distance from members of the opposite sex.

No big ticket purchases
Immediately after the breakup don't go out and shop like a man/woman possessed. Try and amuse yourself with the small pleasures of life like a small vacation or trek to the mountains. Although you will have more disposable income now that you are single avoid big ticket purchases.

No stalking
Stay out of visual range of your ex till things cool down. Remember your ex is your "Ex" and you cannot control whom they meet or be friends with. You need to give your ex the space for them to realize your absence. Stalk your ex and be prepared for another showdown.

Don't forget to be civil
Your ex has only left you and not physically abused you. Be civil and greet your ex with a smile or nod of the head whenever you come face to face with your ex. Never throw a tantrum or make obvious gestures that indicate you are still hurting from the inside.

Burning all the bridges
Never burn all the bridges that might still connect you to your ex. Angrily sending back picture albums, or returning rings or bracelets is a bad idea. Also keep in touch with your ex's family and friends. They may be the ones who will eventually bring the two of you together. Be nice to one and all and don't let the bitterness spill over and sour other relationships.

What music recording tools can I get the boyfriend for xmas?

My boy just got a new laptop, and is into writing/recording his own music (yea, he's the rock guitarist). What are good tools for him to further himself in an innovative, creative way? A friend suggested cakewalk, but I'm kind of clueless when it comes to this stuff. Any help would be appreciated!

Well there's a few things you can get him:

Recording Software: This allows him to record through multiple tracks to record, edit, mix, and master his recordings. Every musician needs one of these to record their software. The above poster mentioned Audacity which is a recording software, but it's also free-ware so it doesn't come with the bells and whistles of effects and filters.

Virtual Synth Software: This would allow him to make drum beats and add any instrument he desires to his recordings such as: piano, guitars, violins, cellos, flutes, pads, synths, etc. The possibilities are endless, but it's also pretty expensive.

Audio Interface: If he plays guitar or sings you might want look at getting him one of these. This will allow him to plug his guitar or microphone into his computer without losing a bunch of quality. The cool thing about this gift, is it comes with recording software too. So 2 birds and 1 stone. You can also get them for as cheap as $150.
