Richard Simmons Dance Your Pants Off! [VHS] Richard Simmons Dance Your Pants Off! [VHS]
List Price: $14.98
Sale Price: $6.58

Richard Simmons, the great motivator, presents another light-intensity, low-impact, high-energy workout in the style of his popular Sweatin' to the Oldies series. Again live music is the focus--this time 1980s dance hits such as "Celebration," "Flashdance," "Gloria," "She Works Hard for the Money," and "Call Me." Just like in the Sweatin' videos, Simmons leads a large class of people of both genders and all shapes and sizes--all having the time of their lives dancing, singing, and cheering (their noisiness may grate on you after a while). Richard wears his signature shorts and tank top, and his followers wear multicolored casual clothes. The message is that it doesn't matter how you look or how much you weigh--just show up and dance! The dance-style choreography is matched to the music, but no moves require much coordination or memory. Simmons barely cues the changes--just watch and follow. This tape is a lot of fun, especially if you remember this music well enough to sing along! At the end of the tape, the performers dance down the center while we read their names and the amount of weight they've lost. Several have lost more than 100 pounds, and one woman has lost 282 pounds! (No, that's not a misprint.) Simmons is to be applauded for making exercise accessible and enjoyable to a whole population of people who didn't know that workouts could be fun. --Joan Price

Their formula is simple enough--equal parts teenage humor and brattiness combined with infectious guitar hooks that just beg to be cranked up on the stereo. But with Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, the guys in Blink 182 may have delivered their best album to date, a punk-pop fusion that's so consistent you'll wonder which of the 13 tracks will become radio hits (any has the chance, really). Yes, as with Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, the songs here revolve around falling in love ("The Rock Show," "First Date"), falling out of love ("Online Songs," "Happy Holidays, You Bastard"), and plenty of other ways to kill time while away from school ("Reckless Abandon"). And yes, these guitar-driven songs all pretty much sound the same, but Take Off never gets boring. There's too much nervous energy here, too many slight variations in the arrangements, and too many hilarious lyrics that you won't want to miss. Parents may remember that the Buzzcocks used this same shtick in the late '70s, older siblings may remember that Green Day did it well not so many years ago, but Blink fans know that their band is more clever than anyone else playing today. The bonus tracks are throwaways, but that's OK--the threesome have given us plenty to bop our heads to here. --Jason Verlinde

Off Pants
Woman accused of putting hamburger in pants arrested on domestic violence charge
The 39-year-old Spartanburg woman accused in July of stuffing a McDonald's sandwich down her pants, then claiming she was cheated, was arrested over the weekend on a criminal domestic violence charge.

Anyone else have a baby (that wears diapers) that takes their pants off to poop?

My son will be 16 months old tomorrow and recently he started taking his pants off to poop! Every time he poops he will take his pants off. He will no longer poop with his pants on.
Anyone else's baby do this? Does it mean it will make potty-training easier?

He sounds like a man.

Jackson could care less when he's poops. I wish he did. He might say "eeww" or "uh oh" but nothing else and half the time I don't even know he pooped until I smell it or it's just plain time for a diaper change. I think it'll help potty training time since you'll know the cues before he poops. That's great!
